Free-paired queens

The quality of my free mated queens is paramount as I breed my queens in an isolated forest area on Zealand, where there are optimal conditions for controlled mating. The area is carefully selected to ensure that the young queens meet selected high-quality queen families, resulting in strong and harmonious bee families.

The starting point for breeding is a strong focus on selected breeding queens that come from first-class Buckfast lines. These are mated with drones from specially selected families, focusing on characteristics such as calm behaviour, low swarming, good honey production and disease resistance. The result is free mated queens that perform well in Danish conditions and are easy to work with - both for beginners and experienced beekeepers.

International standard

Each queen is marked according to the international colour code so you can easily keep track of the vintage in the hive. When you order multiple free-paired queens, I endeavour to put together as wide and varied a selection as possible from available breeding lines. This allows you as a beekeeper to test and compare different traits and characteristics in your own apiary.

Especially good for hobby beekeeping

Free mated queens are particularly suitable for hobby beekeepers and smaller productions where you want a reliable and calm queen that is easy to work with and contributes to a stable and harmonious bee family. They are a good and affordable alternative to purebred queens and are ideal if you want a good start to the season or need a replacement in an existing bee family.
