About Buckfast queens

My Buckfast queens are characterised by a number of traits that make them an obvious choice for both new and experienced beekeepers. They come from a genetic line and are known for their impressive honey production, calm temperament and robust resilience. The queens ensure bee families with high foraging efficiency and a significant honey yield. At the same time, their gentle nature helps to create calm and easy-to-handle hives, making inspection and maintenance easier. The genetic resistance to common bee diseases reduces the need for frequent treatments and contributes to the overall health of the bee family. Each queen line is also mated and tested to ensure strong leadership and stable hive development.

A Buckfast bee is a combination of different breeds and lines of bees. These queens are known for creating strong colonies with high honey production, mild temperament and good disease resistance.

An F1 queen is the first year offspring of the mated queen.

The queens are bred and cared for at my mating centre or on selected islands where mating takes place under controlled conditions.

The queens can be ordered from mid-June until the beginning of October.

Buckfast queens are bred to provide colonies with efficient foraging, high honey yields and calm bees that are easy to work with. They also have improved resistance to common bee diseases.

A mated queen is added to an established bee family or to an offspring. When the bee family has been queenless for 7-9 days, all queen cells are removed and the new queen is added.

The queens are carefully packed to ensure their arrival and a quick and smooth introduction to your hive.
